There is something about DT, destructive testing, that says more about quality than all the assurance - acceptance initiatives and quality managers combined.
Here we are, thrashing a fairly late war model B-17; while the Axis could no longer build a decent rifle.
Not only a plane, the entire rig, which consumed some war materiel, designers, construction crew, transport of the fuselage, just to start.
