    Boeing XB-47D experimental bomber - photo

    The Boeing XB-47D was an experimental bomber powered by turboprop and turbojet engines. Boeing hoped that this configuration would increase the unrefueled range of the aircraft at high cruise speeds.

    How do engineers "hope" when it comes to calculating range? Aspiring pilots want to know!
    Engine (y) consumes (gph) amount of fuel in (t) period of time X amount of engines. Factor that into drag calculations for the airframe and load capacity.

    Assuredly Marv knows, and will correct those algebraic terms...
