    supposed to, but often not. For one thing, they didn't have to blow up everything they found on the spot, it just makes a more convincing case against whoever you toot the stuff from.

    But to get everything done sooner they just overfilled the blast chamber to save time.

    One of the news articles said that the total haul was over 5000 pounds, but a small quantity was homemade and of unknown composition that the police felt was too dangerous to transport, so they chose to detonate it on site. On the one hand this sounds like a justification for a show. On the other hand it could be a legit reason. If it were legit, it's very possible that the explosives had more horsepower than they anticipated, and if that were the case I imagine that somewhere in the world the guy who made them was watching that video thinking "yep. I still got it".

    I seem remember hearing some of the welds were substandard. Low bidder syndrome?

    How is a largely residential area near a school a good place to do this? Being on a vehicle, why not drive to an uninhabited area out of town just in case? I wonder how many windows were blown out by that one?
