I don't know for sure, but just maybe that wasn't the best type of vending machine for plates bowls and cups.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Ah, now I get it, this is an automated way to break the plates rather than have the waiter drop it. See - the robots are taking over!!!

You know, this could have been a Monty Python skit...

Funny as, though safer than most of the Chinese s-too-dense attending our school of art, "to die for ones art" takes on a whole new meaning at times...

based on this, everyone is an artist at some stage, and maybe some clown would pay for this.

This art is superior to some I have seen.

My favorite example of what passes for art today is Walter de Maria's "Earth Room". As the name implies, it's a room filled with dirt. More here...

    https://publicdelivery.org/walter-de...s-earth-rooms/

A brief extract from that page...

New York’s Earth Room is a permanent installation of 250 cubics of soil covering 3,600 square feet of space and 22 inches deep. Earth Room, on long-term public view since 1980, is among his influential pieces that aim at exploring the links between art and the natural environment.

captures the essence of this "masterwork".

The only thing that rivals it is the Virgin Mary done in elephant dung that sold for $4.5 million...

At least that elephant-dung portrait can’t be considered idolatrous!
