It turned out well. I need a bigger saw but I may make a smaller sled until I upgrade to something bigger.

The size of the chain saw depends a lot on how large of a log you want to mill. Many chain saw engines can handle a longer bar that they come with. I have a couple of older larger Stihl chain saws and demolition saws the chain saw came with an 18" bar but standard for it was a 36" I have another that I bought new with a 16" but there is an optional 24" for it.
Your sled is defiantly made heavy duty enough also long enough for a much longer bar.
I have thought long and hard about a saw mill but can't decide if I want to go the simple route of an Alaskan style or build a band saw mill.

I would imagine a remote throttle would make it much easier to use. Imagine motorcycle handlebar that you hold onto and push. Either twist throttle or lever style throttle. Wiring in a remote kill switch would also make it safe to use. I have been thinking about making something similar. I would like to use a hydraulic motor and hook up to tractor hydraulics to allow for a large bar.

Very nice and thanks for the pics. I would think about supporting the motor weight. Everything outside the bar clamp area is a bending moment and weight and vibration will eventually fatigue the bar there. I use stickers the thickness of my kerf and insert them as I move along.

Adding a strap from the side handle to the top of the jig will take care of the motor weight hanging down. the throttle on all chain saws whether they are used as a mill or in felling trees it not in the best position anyway. If the handle with the throttle could be rotated 90° to the left like 1 of my angles grinders can it would make then much handier at times
