    Bullet trap

Decided I wanted to target practice in the shop using my 22 pistol during cold weather so this is what I came up with to catch the lead. My shop is pretty small but I can get about 25 feet shooting diagonal into the trap. I also reload so saving the lead is an important advantage for me. Thanks for looking and if you have any questions just contact me. mBullet trap-013.jpgBullet trap-014.jpgBullet trap-015.jpge.

What thickness of sheet are you using for the construction?
is it taking .22 LR, or gallery rounds?

I currently use a pellet trap (3/4" pine with 4" of foam in front) for teaching PCYC type classes, but this would be better, albeit a little louder (good auditory feedback for the youth)

    Thanks,
    Des

    Des,
The sheet metal is 3/16 but the curved piece is 5/16 pipe and this is where the bullet hits the hardest as it moves around the curve and drops out of the bottom and into the box. I shoot 38 special loads into the trap when it is outdoors and doesn't seem to hurt a thing, but 22 shorts and 22 lr in the shop. I use a heavy mud flap hung in the throat of the trap to shoot through to keep any splatter from bouncing around. Please take all safety precautions should you decide to build one. Shooting firearms is risky, and I do not want anyone getting hurt. Thanks for the reply.
