I would call that a clamp. Not a crimp.

Hello:

For best practice it is good to put three of these clamp on to develop full strength.

I like using chain links for cabinet hanging and toy train couplers.

As already pointed out, what a dangersous idea as implemented.

A flat smooth surface that will deform with clamping to be trying to hold the wire cable with friction.
