That‘s what I originally thought, but that doesn't explain why the support is triangular shaped and the blade slot is so far away from it, or why there are what look like two bolt holes in it. Grinders usually have a bolt hole at the front for the handle but not at the rear. A chop saw is probably what I will try but wondered if it might have some other purpose.
