I bought a box of carbide lathe tips at a car boot sale. They are far too big for my lathe but I thought they would be good for brazing onto custom tools. They have sat for a long time.
I then saw that Bahco make a scraper tool that unlike your normal carbide scraper that just uses a plain flat blade, this uses shaped tips for getting into awkward areas or for smaller projects. I remembered my lathe bits and set to work.
A bit of square bar with an M5 thread on the end, bent and fitted to an old file handle serves as the holder. Lathe bits honed on my carbide sharpener serve as the tips. I have a nice selection of shapes and their orientation is easily changed by loosening the nut. Works great and I am looking forward to using it on a project.
