Catapulting a test sled off an aircraft carrier - GIF and video

Catapulting a special sled to test an aircraft carrier. This was done during testing of the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS), which is replacing existing steam powered launchers.

I particularly liked the scene where the sled skipped like a stone. It gave me the idea to have the sled shaped like a flattened ovoid stone that would loose the wheels as it leaves the carrier fill the sled with high explosives power the launching device by both steam and electromagnetic for double the power and use it as a weapon Probably could make it skip a couple of miles and would be good against the event of a close order encounter or use the sled as a pigeon for target practice
Never try to tell me it can't be done

That's going to become a costly exercise if they don't hook a tether line to it....
