Why put the worst camera pointing at the ground? Why carry all the dead weight of the phone, instead of the much lighter normal drone components? why risk a $1100 phone when you can risk a $400 drone?

People have made projects using a phone as the 'brains' of an autopilot drone, but all the same sensors and CPU is available in smaller, lighter component form.

The rotors look like ones from a micro-drone and having them in a rectangular configuration rather than square makes them much harder to control. I fear this one is just more AI/Photoslop.

Lighten up. The bloke probably did what he knew. Maybe he wasn´t gifted with the knowledge that you have.
