In your second pic the sanding belt can be seen. As fate would have it, yesterday's email brought me info about a Canadian guy that is marketing "Belt Binder" (BigFoot BeltBinder) for making our own sanding belts. I just placed an order so I can't speak from personal experience, but at that site is a review by Steve Good, who puts out instructionals and product reviews for things relating to scroll sawing. He did the math and found that belts can be made for about half of what we pay for pre-made belts. The product is some kind of 'microfiber' material that is used with CA glue to connect the ends of the homemade sanding belt. It doesn't cost much, so I bought some to try it out. Thought you might be interested.
