Why? WHY? Who eats those f'n things? The only guy I ever met who ate that stuff was a coworker about 20 years ago. He was from China and was gnawing on a chicken foot one day. We asked him about it and he said it wasn't very good, it was really gristly and tasted bad. THEN WHY DO YOU EAT IT??? It was right next to perfectly edible food at the store. He had money. Why would he spend it on entrails rather than actual food? It makes no sense.

I think about that a lot. I think once you train someone to do something, they'll just keep doing it. It doesn't matter if it makes no sense, is gross or self destructive.

I'm 73 yrs. old and my father who was born in 1922 ate them. I remembering butchering chickens and he would make chicken broth from the feet and then he would clean off the bones by eating them. My grandparents were from the old country and didn't waste anythig. Head cheese, pickled pigs feet, pickled heart and tongue, etc.

I had a job as a field technician and the work I did was in chicken processing plants. I was told that the chicken feet were frozen and shipped to Japan.

I am more interested in how it works - does it cut the nail, or pull the nail? if it pulls, how does it grip the taper of the nail, how does it detect the nail?
the "offcuts" laying around appear to be short, so I'm leaning towards cutting the nail rather than pulling, but unsure if correct.

Had a friend marry a Chinese girl from Singapore, about 50 years ago. The first time he visited the potential in-laws they served him chicken feet soup, a big bowl of soup with chicken feet hanging out of it. Do you like it, they asked. Yes it’s lovely he said, very nice. (He was hardly going to tell them what he really thought of it). For many years after that, every time he visited them they made chicken feet soup, especially for him.
It’s actually not as bad as it looks or sounds, as with most Chinese food, they know how to cook it.
Ducks feet soup is even better, you can suck the webs off the bones.
