"Whenever any vehicle is stopped at a marked crosswalk or at any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection to permit a pedestrian to cross the roadway, the driver of any other vehicle approaching from the rear shall not overtake and pass such stopped vehicle."

Of course, then there's plain old common sense and courtesy.

THERE'S your mistake! There is no such thing as "common sense" anymore. It seems that rectocranial inversion is the norm now. No "social contract." No "Golden Rule." Screw you, and I'm getting mine! And the Devil take the hindmost! What we actually need, rather than a hunting license, is something that kills the stupid and vicious. OTH, if we managed to do that, there wouldn't be enough people left to bury the dead.

We've always left varmint carcasses where they fall. Kinda sets a border discouraging the rest.

you ain't lyin'! Only problem with that, is they won't really distinguish between survivors and the dead... Best keep a tall sturdy tree nearby when scavenging.

Buddy of mine when I was a young troop had been a USAF Security Policeman in the Black Forest of Germany in the very early 70's, or maybe late 60's. K9 troop. He and his dog were guarding a site out in the woods somewhere, and one of the German wild boars came after him. He went up the tree, and the boar ripped his dog to shreds, and soaked up the full magazine of .45ACP rounds he fired at it without any apparent harm. Then it hung around waiting for him to come down for many hours.

One of the military ranges we used in the UK had to be red flagged around the danger area, the centre flag with in the middle of a pig farm, SOP after a soldier got attacked was 3 man crew in land-rover, driver to get as close as possible to pole and remain on board, flag man to be covered by 3rd man with SMG to deal with any pig. Pig farmer gave up after several belts of .5 ended up killing most of his pigs, seems the sights were mis-set...

PIRA was also known to use farm pigs to dispose of 'evidence' in Eire.

There's an ASSumption the local laws are the same in Europe, some are similar, so are not. Excessive speed and dangerous overtaking like that is common in many parts of Eastern Europe, and yes I agree unacceptable, though the child should have been pushing at walking speed not riding across the road as the sign shows it's a pedestrian crossing.

The number of adults getting injured and killed on electric scooters in Europe is a growing concern as many are ASSumptive about their 'rights' to use such crossing and ASSume drivers will have seen them and be able to stop in time when they've ridden out onto the roadway without looking.
