Yup, I'll admit a short play at fast food.
Dill pickle spears were delivered in 5 gallon plastic buckets. That brine, a Norton stone, then coarse stainless steel wool and elbow grease, versus hot griddle; cooking residue didn't have a chance.

The only really important steps were a good scraping then heating it hot and pouring cold water on it to "deglaze" it. I always followed that with a fresh Scotch Brite pad under several towels (to avoid steam burns) then a quick rinse. Always came out shiny new for me!
