I have a box in my tool chest that probably has twenty or so allen head wrenches all shortened, bent and made to fit tight spots. Some shops I worked in were commission so if you get the job done without removing other components thats good. I laughed to myself when someone says it can't be done. Mr. Mikey.
Very briefly I worked at a Dodge Dealership, they paid book hours, the upside of that was most jobs you could earn several more hours than the 8 hours you worked but other jobs simply defied the logic of how the hours were derived at. On those the only way to come out even or a little ahead was by knowing little tricks on how to locate remove and reinstall many of the fasteners located in seemingly impossible locations without a major amount of component removal.
I liked the set up but several of the others kept complaining that they weren't making a decent wage, so the manager put everyone on straight hourly. When I received my first straight hour paycheck my toolbox was loaded in the back of my pickup 10 minutes later went home and put my welding machine back in the pickup I could make more money working on neighbors' vehicles or by showing up at the coffee shop at 6 Am every morning to see if a contractor needed a welder. for the day.
