Looks kinda like part of a beamline. I don't have a lot of experience with it, but it would make sense for modern beamlines to come with lasers and plasma cutters rather than relying on carbide tooling and bandsaws like they used to. They probably all have them and I just don't know what I'm talking about because I'm 20 years out of date.
