I used to have to do that with 1" SBDHE (Scalloped Double Bevel Hardened Edge) blades. Folding them is easy but still dangerous but even more so when you're opening them! Metal and wood cutting blades are sharp but these were razor sharp the entire length of the cut side. Cut resistant gloves were almost worse, especially if you lost your grip. I watched one guy lose his grip and slice his leg open while he was opening a blade once.
