I improvised a quick tool to remove some connector pins today. A narrow strip of aluminum flashing was able to fit into the connector next to the pin and release it. Of course there are tools available for this task, but I don't own them and I needed something right away.
I didn't plan to have an offset in the two leg lengths, but it worked to my advantage as I was able to get one leg in place and then adjust the pin for clearance and push the tool the rest of the way in
