    I know it is always dicey to walk a crane while in a lift but in this case the operator would have been far better off backing up as the dozer was brought to the surface.
    Crawler cranes do not have the advantage of outriggers so keeping the load as close to the centerline of the track groups as possible is always best
    Never try to tell me it can't be done

    I watched this on my TV I have on my computer and sure enough the blade teeth caught on the steel bar coming out of the concrete. The crane probably could lift the dozer. The rigging was the problem. The guide rope was very lax. someone recognised the problem and gave the safety/guide rope to another who evidently didn't know what to do.

    That was about the time when the operator probably figured out the load was hung up and tried to rotate to clear it rather than attempting to lower the dozer a little. He would have had to rely on whoever was doing the signaling anyway as there was no way he could see an obstruction from the operator's cabin.
    Agreed that guide tether was not doing much from the angle it was being pulled
