Looks like the jumpers still had a really hard landing and would likely have broken bones and internal injuries

The LD50 (lethal dose or lethal distance for 50% of the subjects involved) is 48 feet for a fall to ground - that is about 4 or 5 stories. I am sure there were lots of injuries.
