Two remarks gleaned from my experience making a near identical tool...
Make the length of the tool such that, grasped in the palm, each end projects a minimum of 1/2" from your hand. This will prevent painful pinches.
Lead shot makes for a deader blow than steel balls. I use #9 birdshot available from reloader suppliers.

Gentle sheet metal work; had to laugh.
60's and 70's era advertising ran 30 second Earl Scheib spots. They were $99 paint and body shops all over Los Angeles county. The hook was "Hi, we'll do ten dollars FREE metal work on any car". And running joke was don't leave it out in the rain
Even then, considering shop rates, ten bucks might have been a kick to a door panel...
I still pop that quote when someone is bashing parts in some manner
there are times when model making and working with thin brass sheet (eg 28 gauge) that you do need a gentler touch
