Sadly, I’ve had 4 implants done and there are a few steps missing from this video in my case. The surgeon removed the bad tooth and packed the socket with a sterile white powder made from cadaver bone. This enabled my jaw to regrow in this area. Then they used an in-office CT scanner to map out the bone channels that carry nerves. They do not want to hit any of them. With a 3D model of my jaw on a monitor, the surgeon drills the series of concentric holes to accept the socket. The entire process took 9 months and was around $5,000 per tooth including the new tooth which was done by my dentist. Each tooth needs special care.
My surgeon told me if a person smokes, the implant will fall out so he doesn’t accept smokers as patients.
