I sincerely hope that was one of those jumbo pencils the kindergarten and first graders use. I can't even begin to imagine this being done in a standard #2 lead pencil.
but even if it were a jumbo to carve in that intricate of detail without breaking the lead is amazing to me since I have trouble writing with a pencil without breaking the lead in the first place
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use http://kbs.justoldtrucks.com/

Which end do you start at? I thought I might try but could not figure out which end to start on.

It was for the wrong artist anyhow. Dalton Ghetti carved this one.
