    OK, you can do it, but that was a new glow plug and a proper soldering iron can be had for much, much less than the glow plug. You've got a tip that is more than 10 times as wide as needed and yes, you can melt a big blob of solder on the transformer tabs, but you are ruining those parts you took off. Definitely a huge thumbs down - BTW your video was upside down during those parts where you held you thumb out...

    I agree. It would probably take more time and effort to make this thing that to just go to any hardware store and get an actual soldering iron. If one is stubborn or desperate enough to follow through with this build, it might be slightly more useful to make a pointed tip for the hot end. Also, certain glow plugs can easily get to 1000C or higher. Copper melts at 1085C and degrades into junk well below that temperature.

    How many amps does it pull? I might not use it for a soldering iron, but I bet I could think of a few applications for a brute of a hot end like that.
