Dividing Head To Harold Halls Design

    Hi ,
I just finished making my dividing head to Harold Halls Design amd I am quite
pleased with how it turned out as it allows me several ways to do division

Firstly I can do direct division using a gear wheel

or I can do direct division using a dividing plate

and of course I can do compound division using the gear and worm with a dividing plate

Unlike a normal dividing head that has a fixed 40:1 , 60:1 or 90:1 ratio I can simply chage the gear wheel
and have any ratio I want which then gives me more choices for divisions

The nose is made to fit Myford 3 or 4 jaw chucks, . My ER32 collet chuck holder and also has an internal
morse 2 taper so I can fit morse taper tooling

The didviding end can be swung around to any convenient angle

The plans are available in the Workshop Practice Series book number 37 " Dividing "

I really Like Harolds Designs and have made several , I intend to make his tapping stand next

Well Done Don, looks like you have made a better job than the original. For me it is encouraging to see it being made, as I consider it to be one of my best, maybe even the best, designs, though I have only been aware of a very small number being made. Having made the video of it there are signs of more taking up the design.

Should anyone reading this thread be interested the video of it is at this page http://www.homemadetools.net/forum/d...0776#post73113 on the forum.
