Despite all the variety in adaptive vise jaws, this is well suited to uniform and irregular contours. Guys spending time milling soft jaws for equal shapes are going to be upset!

My wife suggests a plastic washable version for kitchen use. Holding a jar while opening, holding a hard veg while cutting, etc.

Congratulations! This was a good one. Washable plastic jaws was mentioned as a substitute for steel. UHMW plastic is good for food use and not terribly difficult to machine. 3D printing it used to be a challenge, but that may have changed. No kitchen is complete without a good vise for face-milling cabbage!
