Diy fume extractor

Hi,
Here is a new project i made, this time with a video, it's a soldering fume extractor made out of a food container and an ATX power supply fan.
It's my first video :rocker: and i will be happy to know what you think about it, i will appreciate your feedback.

Great video with voice-over advice on your techniques and so easy to follow along. Very good use of used parts and reuse of plastic materials. Thanks for sharing.

I like how the video included the entire build process, with some parts speeded up as necessary. Great production values!

I like it! Certainly better thought out compared to the ones I've seen that just disperse the fumes to another part of the room.

I like the design but I question the filter medium. Does the foam filter or cool the air to take the reduce the health risks? Do you still smell the resin fumes on the exhaust side? I have heard of more than a few people developing throat cancer that circuit boards from the fumes. It always makes me cautious even though my exposure to the fumes would be a lot less.

Any system that keeps the smoke out of your face is useful, but it would be better to know the carcinogens were taken out of the air.

The main goal for this fume extractor is to avoid breathing fumes directly i have a well ventilated working area so i'm not worried about smells, but this sponge is trapping all the smoke i can see it getting a little darker after i used it a lot, the smells are reduced considerably.
With this design you can change the filter to anything you want, if you are interested in making one i advise you to use active carbon filter it taps the smoke and neutralize the smells.
