The most essential tool you can have on your boat is the anchor. It's used to hold your boat fast in a general location and keep it from drifting onto the rocks or another vessel. They're not cheap though. Especially the latest "whiz-bang" wedge type anchors by Mantus and Rocna.

I can’t afford to purchase a new (or even a used) Rocna or Mantus wedge style anchor for my new sailboat. No problem. I’m just making my own cloned version with about $45.00 dollars worth of steel. This is Part 2 of a mini-series.
