looks like cookie dough to me just toss em on a sheet flatten them with a fork and bake

I once made a machine for a customer similar to that but with aligned, non helical rolls to make easter egg centres out of marzipan. Nothing like so automated, strictly manual.

So — that's where all those donut holes come from.
