Simple build using easy techniques but looks to be a stout machine. I didn't see any flex in the mast during the metal drilling. Not sure how well the sliding part would fare over time being just wood? Might consider attaching metal sheets to the contact surfaces for longevity. It would allow for lubrication too. Great build though! Nice drill press.
