Drill press table clamps from scrap!

For your edification/consideration: Two scraps of angle steel, 5/15" bolts, nuts, washers.

In the photo, the bits of angle are clamping down on an aluminum hub, that is having the center bore enlarged. I 'step drilled' this piece, and observed no movement while drilling it to 5/8" diameter...

CAUTION: Drilling holes through angle steel can be hazardous to the health of you, observers or passers by, vehicles (i.e., wife's Mercedes), etc. Be VERY VERY CAREFUL!! :o

I like it start looking through my scrap and found some 1/2 x 3 in. stock that was scrap from an elevator shaft and just went and drilled several holes along the length for 1/2in carraige bolts and ground sides to fit the tee grove in my drill press and they worked fine for a cheapo x/y axis Harbor Freight vice I just picked up for $5. and your Idea worked great thanks ED

Nice to see someone that has an idea that does not require massive amounts of time & materials. No damn bells and whistles. So simple that 99% of people do not think of it. Good Job!
