Easy starting for small motors

Hi, Folks:

I wonder if anyone out there can help an old man: I’ve lost so much strength now that I’m 80, pulling the starter cord on my gas-powered chainsaw, mower, etc., has become near impossible for me. I have replaced the chain saw for one that really does start much easier, but I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a power washer. Back in the 70’s Sears carried a mower that had the motor mounted on top and all one had to do was crank it slowly with a handle and then release a clutch, or whatever, and upon unwinding, started the motor. So, I know it can be done, but not by me.

You guys have built some incredible stuff that I could never begin to emulate, so if anyone has an idea, I’m afraid it cannot be too great a chore for me to build.

Maybe something like this can be adapted to your situation?

My dad really likes his electric chain saws, etc. Also rechargeable power tools are getting better all the time.

The big batteries are expensive, but you can share them between tools, sometimes.

Most engines can be set up with electric starter on them . Some can be had with 120 volt electric start. The problem is the cost to modify or swap out parts to do it. Money is the main hold up. I've worked on small engines and made modifications on many items. The old crank up and spin starts would wear out quickly and customers help make them go away. A short time back they were selling adapters to mount on your flywheel then you could use your drill to start the engine it used a cone and a cone shaped rubber adapter in your drill chuck. I bet you can find some around or make your own fairly easy. Just trying to help.
