If I remember correctly, Tesla originally had a similar concept for the model S.

I’ve seen battery swap stations for electric scooters. Short haul electric trucks, e-scooters, and e-bikes fill specific needs. Having quick battery replacement makes them even better. Long haul cars and trucks, at the present time, are best powered by gas. Each problem has a different solution. A friend of mine drives about 5 miles a day but once a year drives 2000 miles in 3 days. She doesn’t want to rent a car for the long trip so compromises on way too much capacity most of the year so she can have enough for the one trip. Given her needs and wants, this seems reasonable to me. I have similar needs but for long trips, drive to the airport and then rent a car at the other end. I’m comfortable with this arrangement but accept that some reject it.
