This is known as 'dot peen marking', 'pin stamping' and like phrases, operate without removing material, rather like knurling. They have periphery controls with layout, font choices, serialization, and run at shop air pressure. The stylii can be pointed or hemispherical for true dot peening. Imported examples start at a couple hundred $USD.
