Hi
I made this kind of gift for my friend.
Its a bottle inside epoxy resin.
I tried to shape it to look like ice block.
I also made this small ice axe to it, so he can dig the bottle out. ( Try to dig )
Handle is about 3 1/2" long.

I am curious about your method used in this project. As I understand, most epoxies generate heat while curing. I’ve seen pure resin (no additives) slabs of just 40mm crack from thermal stress. How do you prevent this?

A company I used to work for made epoxy encapsulated electronics. To use solid epoxy would be expensive and there's that heating problem. So, they partially filled the enclosure with fine, baked sand, vibrated and then poured the epoxy over it. Put into vacuum chamber to get the air out and then let cure.
Seemed to work well, the epoxy would be pulled deep into the sand.
Here is another one.
Simple night light.
Epoxy resin, acryl, stainless steel and oak.
Lit up with two led stripes.

I was talking with a friend a week ago about the bubbles problem. He's trying to make a sort of minitable, using a clear resin of unknown and unproved quality, it seems that having a bubbles free solid is not easy, even with the torch. The vibrations would be a nice choice! thanks for the tip.
