Driven my share of Leopard 1 units back in the 90s. Was only allowed to drive it on a concrete test track, sometimes in the wet -- but yeah, all good!!!
If you ever get the chance to drive a tank, dont pass it up. Interesting experience, especially if able to really open up the trottle. Not advisable to stand near the exhaust ports upon startup. At head height.
no. 1 was only about 40 tonnes of tracked vehicle and you could only get about 60Km/h. Bugger, but still good fun.
Biggest thing that surprises you is how fast these buggers can stop- watch a brake test. Was standing in crew cmd spot when the boys did that one. You get the call thru the intercom - really have to brace yourself, no seatbelt when standing on the seat.
Ride quality is quite good, especially since my first experience driving a tracked vehicle was driving the M113.
