F-104 was what might be called in hotrod parlance, a tennis shoe. Loads of power, lightweight, and rather trim. Leading edges of wings and ailerons were literally razor sharp. Also IIRC, the narrowest wingspan and thinnest productive airfoil ever on a large plane.
