    Ferrule turning tools from spanners

I recondition a lot of chisels, mainly on behalf of WORKAID, a charity which sends tools to Africa. Why do people hit chisels with a club hammer? Hopefully the ones I do will be sent with wooden mallets!
It used to be a bit hit-and-miss sizing ferrules. I have had regrouped spanners for several years, an idea I saw in "Proven shop tips", published by Fine Woodworking. But now I identify the internal diameter of miscellaneous tubes by wrapping different coloured tapes around the tubes & the relevant tools. It is best to put the forum on before turning another handle, but I prefer to make a batch.
Of course, you have to draw the blank down to almost the right size with gouge & scraper, with a slight taper. They are not very comfortable to use! Really I ought to adjust the rest.
