Those are the reactions that get firefighters killed or injured. You have to learn to suppress the fear and adrenaline, (the adrenaline is a real motherf’er to suppress) so you can react appropriately. When I first started my fire career, that adrenaline rush was undeniably crazy and addictive and takes a lot of experience and understanding to overcome its intoxication and not be controlled by it.
