Sorry, I'm replying to an old thread. Maybe this will make it easier for a new reader.
The cord is wrapped around the horizontal log which is about 6" diameter. The articulating (vertical) log is probably 8ft long. It is the lever that twists the horizontal log and wraps the cord. The horizontal log is flipped so the cord keeps wrapping around the log in the same direction as the lever is flipped back and forth. The leverage ratio appears to be about 15 to 18 to 1. Thus a torque of about 60-80 lbs is multiplied into a horizontal pulling force of about 1,200-1,400 lbs.
