This Floating Table Looks Like Magic, how is it possible? (Part1)

How does this display table hold itself up? Find out in this video, where I build a piece of furniture known as a tensegrity table. Tensegrity structures are ones which rely on tension to maintain stability.

So after building the floating item, my wife decided it wasn't impressive enough, so she decided to give this item her touch. What do you say how the result?

I can see the wires in the YouTube freeze frame.

I once hung an item with very thin black steel wires. Someone didn't like it, got up on a chair and tried to rip it down. Cut his hand and almost pulled the ceiling down, which just made him madder.

Sorry, I thought it looked nice.

The wires are not the point here. Obviously there is use of wires, but this is still about physics and not wires

I like this little project very much. But, aaagh! Don’t spread glue with your fingers! Have you got dermatitis yet?
Coincidentally, I have just yesterday thrown away a spool of fishing line which I haven’t used for 55 years, which will do just nicely for this.

Hi thank you for your support, please tell me, why carpentry glue should not be applied with fingers?

Well, the reason is that it will probably lead to dermatitis, particularly around the fingernails. This is painful. You get fine cracks appearing, which are slow to heal. This Floating Table Looks Like Magic, how is it possible? (Part1)-image.jpgOf course, you could put on a barrier cream. That looks like a fast grab adhesive, so is probably more aggravating. But what does it say on the container?
