He learned everything he knows about auto maintenance at Biffy Lube. Why not remove the fuel injectors and then crank the engine sending high pressure gasoline everywhere as the spark plugs are sparking? It's called the "Italian Tune-Up..."

Ha may have had the camera set up to provide him with information as to which injector was faulty.
Give this some thought. Either removing the injectors if not throttle body is not always as easy as you might think. even getting access to the spark plugs on some vehicles almost requires an act of congress and we all know how dysfunctional congress or parliaments can be.
1 from the amount of fluid that was expelled from more than a single cylinder the engine was most likely flooded to the point of being hydraulically locked. if the engine had injectors viewing the recorded video would define which one or more injector was bad which would usually be more than a single injector to lock down an engine. unless it had been shut off at the right moment when a faulty injector had squirted fuel. Once there is sufficient fuel in the combustion chamber to prevent the piston to go past TDC it will lock up the engine.
2 if this was an engine with a throttle body injection system then hydraulic lock can occur more readily.
In either case removing the spark plugs would be the way to allow the clearing of the cylinders.
Where he messed up was since this engine is clearly does not have a coil over system simply disconnecting the power supply connection to the distributor or the module and removing the spark plugs for clearing the cylinders would have prevented the spark causing the fire. for coil overs disconnecting the power from them would do the same thing or disconnecting the crank and or cam sensors.
Another way would haver been remove the spark plugs and use a remote starter switch to turn the engine over with the IGN. in the off position.
