Sure better than the old bed of nails.

A lot is being done now with automated optical and x-ray machines...faster.

Odd they're doing it with parts on the board.

With this type of check, you can detect incorrect part values, reversed components, continuity, open circuit, and a number of other checks. This is so much easier than the old bed of nails tests.
