During the trials and testing period, yes, this seems silly and a waste of effort. But if you envision much farther forward in time and progress, then it makes more sense. Driverless delivery van, robot/automation inside the van loads the delivery robot, and then the robot delivers it up to the front porch.
It starts to make sense when delivering in a suburban neighborhood where it's rows and rows of houses and deliveries.
I am guessing the home maintenance robot is the one who ordered the delivery while the human family are off on vacation.
