Gage for checking trunnion ball socket

After replacing the trunnion ball on the 6-way blade of a D3B dozer I needed to tighten up the socket in mounts in by welding a few passes inside. then to check for fit the easiest way is with a go no go gage. I found a 3" internal snap ring that was close to the right size. to make it the exact same as the diameter of the trunnion ball I squeezed it down and clamped the ends it worked perfectly

By rotating the ring throughout the internal spherical cavity, I was able to tell where I needed to either add more weld or grind off some of the weld I had already put in place

Never try to tell me it can't be done

It seems I am going to have to replace my keyboard again. there are 3 or 4 keys which don't print a lot of the time. If the missed letter doesn't cause a word to be underlined as an evident misspelling I often times don't notice the word. such as gage or gauge. I had to hit the "U" three times to get them to print.
