A bunch of domes just went in about a mile from my house. It's some sort of high end camping resort. They're quite nice. I was surprised how high end they are. They're a bit different from the ones in the video above, the ones here are quite large and are wrapped in flexible transparent vinyl. There's two levels on the inside with a kitchen, sleeping area and some other little areas. You can climb up to the second level and open the top to watch the stars. It's actually really cool. I think they rent them out for $300-500 per night.

I like the design of those particular domes. Some of the older ones were true hexadomes, made up entirely of hexagonal panels. The ones shown here are typical geodesic structures that incorporate pentagonal panels with the hexagonal panels. They are though to be more structurally sound I guess. Effective use of the interior space can be difficult due to the curvature of the shell.
