Here are some pictures. I made a couple of versions. One way double sided, ambidextrous. The other one sided, which I like better. It offers more control, especially when you are swinging this around. But, it's no more dangerous than a gas weed whacker at full song with a metal blade.
Note the use of carbide blades and the use of rareearth magnets to hold the blades in place while you put it back together. The brass plate is threaded and that takes most of the impacts and sandwiches the blades together against the rock hard sugar maple body of the tool.
