I needed a footrest, so rummaged around and put some junk together, making it up as I went along. As with all of my projects this one has an arbitrary rule - I had to use only found objects within my workshop - nothing even from the next room over.

The basis is a collapsible wine rack made of Chinese Oak (which is really good lumber), with a piece of 1/4" plywood, neoprene foam from a BMW taillight gasket kit, and fabric from my old couch. The only actual engineering put into it - if you can call it engineering - is that I drilled the pivot of the prop to a random offset to get two height settings. It turns out that the closed position works as a functional position too, so I accidentally made a 3-position footrest. I only use the highest setting when I stand, but the accidentally-steep angle is very comfy.

This is how I adjust height.
