When I worked at the Watch Factory we put these Bausch &Lomb microscopes on the lathes and mills:
This worked great for seeing small work. I drilled holes down to=#103 (0.006") and turned a 0.008" shaft on the lathe, 0.125" long. Seeing the tool work made a huge difference.
